YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Do you teach machine knitting to beginners? I don’t see any basic classes listed.

If you're new to the Kniterate, Designing with Kniterate is a great place to start. The course takes you from the beginning, introducing the fundamentals of machine knitting and guiding you through essential techniques. You'll learn how to navigate the design application and build the skills needed to design and knit a basic sweater.

At this time, I don’t offer beginner-level instruction for other knitting machines. My private sessions and other courses are best suited for knitters who are already comfortable using double-bed machines.

Can you knit a proto-sample for me?

I'm not offering sample knitting services at this time.

I’m making my first sweater. Do you recommend your How to Cut and Sew a Sweater course?

Cut-and-sew can be helpful in some situations, like when you're pressed for time or working with a complex design such as a double jacquard neckline. However, I recommend first learning how to shape your sweater directly on the knitting machine using increases and decreases. This method, known as full fashioning, often results in a neater finish and is a key skill for machine knitters. While How to Cut and Sew a Sweater was originally created for sewists, many of the techniques it covers may be useful to you later on.

Do I need to own a Kniterate to take your courses?

Designing with Kniterate is the only course specifically focused on the Kniterate software. My other courses and private sessions are designed for intermediate knitters using any v-bed machine or a main knitting bed with a ribber.

Can I book a private session with you to troubleshoot a specific issue?

Yes. Private sessions are often used to solve a particular problem, develop a project strategy, or explore a specific technique. These sessions are best suited for knitters with some prior machine knitting experience.

~

Do your courses include knitwear patterns or only techniques?

My courses focus on techniques, structure, and creative application. While you’ll receive worksheets and reference materials, the emphasis is on understanding core principles so you can confidently develop your own designs.

I’m a sewist interested in using sweater knits. Will your content help me?

Yes. While my main focus is machine knitting, I provide the resources How to Cut and Sew a Sweater and CraftingFashion.com, which are especially useful for sewists working with sweater knits or creating hybrid projects.

Can I access the course content at any time?

Pre-recorded courses are available on your own schedule. Live sessions and workshops may have different access terms, which are detailed in the course description.
