Double Jersey Jacquards

All swatches pictured on this page were knitted with an early version of the Kniterate design app. As described in a previous post, the two-color jacquards knitted as a double jersey, the only choice at the time. The current version (released late October 2020) is able to knit two types of birdseye with the double jersey jacquard scheduled to reappear in the near future. Both sides of a single swatch appear below.

Programming a double jacquard pattern for the Kniterate is as easy as drawing the design in the browser-based app or importing a premade .jpg or .png file. There can be up to six colors per row. The app will generate a usable cast-on and bind-off knitting sequence. Fine tuning the stitch sizes for each bed, roll distance (pull down), and knitting speed is generally required.

As satisfying as the jacquards are to knit, the Kniterate is able to produce stitches with deep texture as I’ll show in my next post.

O!

As a Kniterate ambassador I’d be happy to give you a virtual tour of the machine. If you’re a Kniterate owner, you may be interested in my prerecorded Designing with Kniterate classes.

O! Jolly!
